My Approach

It can be deeply painful and confusing to be stuck with overwhelming feelings about yourself and others, and to experience recurring difficulties in navigating relationships. I strive to bring hope, purpose, and stability into my clients’ lives. In sessions, I may offer concrete ways of tackling problems, with tools from dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). I also integrate mindfulness and body awareness into my practice given the fact that we live in the interplay of body and mind.

A lifelong love of literature, film, and music has provided me a window into the different ways that humans experience and express their emotions. I invite you to talk about what you are reading, watching, and listening to and how these move you emotionally and contribute to your understanding of self and others.

A core influence for me is psychoanalysis, which invites in all aspects of human experience: what we desire, what we love, what we hate, what we fear, and what we don’t yet know about ourselves. Through careful sharing and listening the therapeutic relationship itself becomes a vehicle for insight and change.

I am an active, engaged, compassionate therapist who will both support and challenge you as we collaborate toward your goals. Therapy can be a transformational experience and I’m honored to be working in this field. I pursue ongoing professional development and am always learning in order to enhance my work with clients.
